I have an HP Photosmart C7180 printer. It’s out of warranty (7 years old). Upon power up, the printer begins its initial boot and the print carriage traverses it’s guiding rod. Immediately after that, I hear a grinding sound (mechanical in nature) and the system stops and displays an error that there is a paper jam. However, to my knowledge there is not. Inspecting the inside of the paper feed and back door access I can see no paper jammed. Restarting and/or powering off/on the printer produces the same affect each time. If I can’t figure out how to fix it myself, I’m hoping I can send it to someone to have them look at it (there are no local shops that want to try to fix it). Any help is greatly appreciated!

If the error message says there is a paper jam that is not visible, HP provides an app (HP Support Assistant) to help with troubleshooting. You can also use it to chat with a virtual agent. Download the app from HP’s website at the link below: HP Support Assistant If that doesn’t help fix the problem, HP also provides an online form for out-of-warranty printer repair services.
