My Asus E204 TBCL432B came with only 32gb eMMC storage. I found an upgrade motherboard with 128gb storage. If I replace the motherboard will be it difficult to start the machine ? Will I have to install Windows ?
As long as you don’t upgrade the board to a better model CPU wise, usually no. However, take a backup just in case because even though it isn’t always an issue, you may have to reinstall. Windows only cares about the motherboard ID in terms of activation. For Windows 8 and 10, the key should be in the BIOS. If you need to reactivate the OS and it doesn’t do it automatically, you may need to reinstall if it doesn’t pick up the key.
You don’t have to install windows . after installation of the new board, you will need to update the device.
@doctr728 if your OS (whatever version Windows your computer currently runs) is installed on your 32GB eMMC then yes, you will have to possibly reinstall. It will depend on what the “new” eMMC will have stored etc. You do want to make sure that you have some sort of access to your version OS. It is possible that you just need an update for drivers etc. but I would not bank on it.
