Panasonic Tc-p60vt60 When plugged in instantly turns on to the smart viera screen and will not change. Even if unplugged I can not change inputs or anything. No control. If you hold power down on the TV for 10 sec it will power off and then come back to the same smart viera screen. any suggestions?
This sounds to me like a power supply problem. There is sufficient power to startup the set, but not enough to maintain it. If you feel comfortable working on the set, open up the back and take a look at the power supply board. This should be the one where the power cord goes (or follow the 2 or 3 wires to a board from the actual AC connector if on a separate board). If you can, take a photo and post it here. I am suspecting defective capacitors in the power supply that will cause a safety shutdown. The constant red light indicates that the standby power is present. Keep us posted. Dan
