New Samsung 43’ UN43RU7100FXZA 2160P purchased Feb 15, 2020 - When I first turn on the TV for the day I have no sound. I push volume/channel/source/and other buttons on the remote but nothing works and then I get sound but not sure want got me sound. I changed the HDMI cable but still no sound when I first turn on the TV first of the day. Otherwise the sound is good. Some movie I have to turn the volume up to hear it. Why is this happening?

Hi, I’m assuming that the source of the TV signal is a “box” of some description as you mentioned HDMI. If there is a “box” what is the make and model number? What happens if you turn the “box” off, turn the TV on and then turn the box on, do you get audio straight away? Did you try a different HDMI input on the TV, you didn’t say? Does it do this if you connect another signal source e.g. a dvd player to a HDMI input and have it switched on before the TV is switched on? I’m wondering if you have a HDCP compatibility problem between the “box” and the TV? Check if the “box” is HDCP compliant as most probably the TV will be. If it isn’t then this could lead to potential audio or video problems. If the TV is connected to the internet check the firmware version that is installed in the TV as there was a new firmware version released on Mar. 02 2020 Ver. 1323. which says: Model : RU7100, RU7300, RU7400 - Version : 1353.0

  1. Improved browser performance
  2. Improved app performance
  3. Improved stability
  4. Improved usability of input devices If your TV has an earlier version firmware installed, try updating online to check if this may resolve the problem. Update (03/04/2020) Hi, Is the HDMI 1 port on the TV marked as HDMI 1-CEC by any chance, whereas HDMI 2 may not be? If so check if Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) is turned off. In the TV go to Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). If it is on turn it off and then check if the Xfinity works OK on HDMI 1 If still no good try your Blu Ray or any other HDMI capable device on HDMI 1 and check if there are any problems at all when using it. Did you try turning off/on the Xfinity box as suggested when it is still connected to HDMI 1, you didn’t say? If it works OK with other devices but still not with the Xfinity box, then it may be a compatibility problem with the Xfinity box. You would need to check what firmware is installed in the box (should be in the menus somewhere, I think, but I don’t have one to check) and see if there are any updates available for it if it is not the latest version. It may also be a hardware problem and that the Xfinity is not HDCP compatible but less sure of this. If the box is fairly new it should be. As always with HDMI make sure that both devices are turned off when unplugging/plugging the cables If you have proven that the HDMI 1 port is faulty by trying other devices and it also still won’t work with the Xfinity box my view is that you paid for a fully functioning TV and haven’t got it. Get it fixed (TV replaced?) under warranty as you don’t know if another port may fail after the warranty has expired and then you are left with even less options. Don’t forget that there is also the manufacturer’s warranty on the product as well which is still valid ;-)
