Chosen Solution
Hi, recently I accidentally spilled some water on my laptop well I did immediately took the battery out and tried to dry it . Problems here after drying it with hair dryer I tried to power it on , so to try it better I shut it down and power it up again it is still ok but mouse is completely invisible and unusable. Third time blank nothing came up . Took it to the place I bought my laptop lay there for a few days hoping for solution but they said the motherboard was fried but did not say which components. Other than changing the motherboard which cost about a new laptop what should I do to save it . Will reflowing it help ? If not what to do ?
Tam Alden, your options are really limited here. Instead of using a hairdryer to try to dry it out, you should have disassembled it and cleaned it properly. that means isopropyl alcohol and a brush to get rid of all the contaminants. The continuous turning on most likely shorted out multiple components on the board. So, unless you experience in trying to find out where the short is and the to source the new components and microsoldering, there is not a whole lot you can do. At least you could try and find some obvious damage by removing the board and cleaning it.
replace it, i did it and now it works like a charm
