I have an iPhone 5s that was submerged in water, fully turned on. I’m told it wouldn’t turn off and kept beeping until the battery died. It’s been left to draw for a few days, and I’ve now taken it apart. The battery is all swollen and lumpy, I assume that’s a result of the water damage. Is anything else likely to be damaged, and how would I check? Given the symptoms I’ve described, do you think the device itself is likely to be salvageable? I’m just trying this out of curiosity and a taste for the retro; the person who dropped it already has a replacement so it’s not important.
First take it apart and clean logic board and connectors with 90% alcohol, then put a new battery in and see if it boot up.
