Chosen Solution
I’ve studied the DIY steps and I’m pretty sure I don’t trust myself to do that. Just looking at the photos gives me an anxiety attack. I doubt they’ll say it’s just some keys needing to be replaced and I doubt it’s just the keyboard. I keep reading that the solution for tyuio intermittent problems is a top case replacement.
- What might a top case replacement charge be including labor?
- Also, if/when they replace it, will they clean the fans automatically too?
- Is it true that if you ask them to replace the battery they automatically replace the top case? Thank you everyone for all this help.
- It is in poor taste, for one technician, to quote another store’s prices. however what i can do is say, that usually, the parts for that repair can cost upwards of 250$, plus shipping and labor. our store, would charge roughly 350-400$ for that repair, with a warranty on the quality of repair. as for apple, i have found that some repairs, they will do rediculously cheap, that no store would be able to compete with them, or so expensive its just cheaper to buy a new one. I wouldnt be able to say anything on the specifics of this repair on its own.
- If they are replacing a full top case, they will need to open up the bottom panel. any technician worth his salt, will clean out the device as he does this repair.
- If the top housing, holds the battery, usually, apple will only do the easiest possible repair, as they can salvage the internal workings. so if the housing comes with a preinstalled battery, then likely the housing replacement would come with the battery at apple.
