The phone is an iPhone 8 - I read that apple stores don’t remove swollen batteries and I realllly don’t want to dispose of my phone and lose all of my data on there. What is the best option for the removal of a swollen battery by a professional? Also, if by chance anyone lives in the Portland Oregon area and can recommend a place for me to go to, that would also be greatly appreciated.

The way I’ve done it is I remove the battery myself, but then I seal it in a watertight heat-sealed bag to prevent shorting and liquid contact. Once I remove it, I’ll dispose of the battery myself – usually I drop it off at places like Best Buy to dispose of it. However, if you aren’t comfortable with the removal process you can probably take the phone to a 3rd party repair shop and have them remove it for you.
