I have a HE Kenmore series 500 washing machine. On occasion, and in between stages of the washing cycle, a very loud (but brief) gear grinding noise will occur. The strange thing is, the cycle will still complete with no issues. However, the noise is really loud and sounds like it may be the start of something more serious. I uploaded a video of the noise. Are you sure it’s not a timer? My mom had one that use to make noise when the dial on front would reset turning back to original position..also had one with spin cycle timer thing I think..I was young mite of been something else but I do know was normal..If you have your manual still it mite explain.hope that mite help let me
