When I turn it on, the power supply starts doing this noise, and shows no image (I dont know if I have sound since I dont have any source attached). Searching in google people say its either a faulty capacitor or a faulty pulse transformer. VIDEO -> https://youtu.be/7_9UElozRuQ PHOTOS -> https://imgur.com/a/UCYC01J
Hi @maradonagolaso, That sounds a lot like coil whine from one of the transformers, but it’s almost impossible to tell via a video. It also did sound like it was more discernible when you were close to one of the transformers. Also; The one big electrolytic capacitors, visible here, looks like it’s starting to bulge at the top which is a clear sign of decay.A cap from 2008 is pretty old, and caps are some of the first things to go in power supplies (along with inductors). I would continue to listen closely to try to make out exactly which components is making the whine. Digression: A directional microphone (with digital output in decibels on a meter), can identify where the sound is the loudest, which will be on (or very close to) the component in question. But not many people have this equipment at home :/
@maradonagolaso could be anything which causes your Transformer to make that noise. Check the power supply. Get a multimeter and measure to see if you have: 13VDC at pin 30 of CN1001 If you don’t, it is your power supply that has failed. Check C1040 for 3.3VDC, C1015 for 5V C1039 for 3.3V and C1073 for 1.2V. All voltages are DC. Any of those voltages missing would be cause by a bad main board. Remember that it si the main board that tells the power board to turn on (simplified) etc. You still want to be careful since this is a live test and you do NOT want to touch your caps etc. with your bare hands etc. Could be a shocking experience., so be careful.
