Im trying to look over a water damaged MacBook Pro w/ Touch Bar. I accidentally snapped of a flex-cable that seems to be attached to the battery chipset. iFixit’s breakdown YouTube video of the Late 2016 Touch Bar shows a clear picture of it:
Anyone knows what it is and does? Is it needed for the laptop to start?
Just to troubleshoot, do I need it? (The battery is probably gone anyway). Also, Does the MacBook Pro w/Touch Bar start without a battery? (USB-C charger connected). I can see that one USB-C module is fried (right one). Left one seems OK. Does it start with one side unplugged? I can see the part as replacement in the ifixit store. Great if I get the machine running again. :) Battery specification: 020-01705 / A1819 Anyone? Thank you in advance!
Ouch!! Sadly this is the SMC circuit connection to the logic board. Your battery won’t charge without the connection. I’m not sure if the battery will even run your system as some of the SMC circuitry that was on the logic board is now on the battery in this series. Time for a new battery in any case.
