So I have a late 2012 iMac that I got for free from my school, I want to put a 1 TB SSD in it as well as 32gb if that’s possible, and I want to know what processor I can put in it to give it the best specs possible.
The best CPU you can install in this series is a 3.1 GHz Core i7 (I7-3770S) As far as RAM its limited to 16 GB. Depending on what drive option the system came with you may not be able to add a second drive. The SATA HDD models don’t have the ability to add in the PCIe/NVMe blade SSD drive, If you got a Fusion Drive system you already have two drives present (you’ll need to break the set before you can remove either) and the blade only model can have a SATA drive added with adding the needed HD SATA cable.
