Hello, I have a Mid 2015 MBP that I had serviced by a shop. It came back without the black stick-on covers for some of the chips. I am curious what the function of these covers is, and if they have any thermal dissipating (heat sink) capacity, or if they’re merely cosmetic? The top picture has the black stickers removed and the bottom picture has them installed.
There are two different issues at play: The first is the long strip helps the airflow around the vent holes. Both also have a benefit in transmitting and shedding heat! Dark-colored materials both absorb and emit energy more readily than light-colored materials
