I am in needing to replace old hard drive with a new one, what would be the right one to switch it with?, with the right laptop

Hi @jayjay03 According to the maintenance and service guide for the laptop some of the compatible HDDs used in the laptop are sata III type and some a sata II type. (data transfer rate 6GB/s and 3GB/s) Sata III is backward compatible with sata II so as the one you linked is sata III, it should work.

I could not find the specs on the BUS speed to see if it is 3.0 Gb/s or 6.0 Gb/s, so get a backward compatible SSD drive such as the Crucial MX500. https://www.ifixit.com/Search?query=Cruc… HP Pavilion g7-1150us Hard Drive Replacement

NONE - get an SSD. The speed difference is overwhelming. Samsung, WD, PNY, Kingston, Crucial Look for a sale Yeah, there are more than an HDD but worth it. your use and what you save on the LT determines how big. Most people are good with 256GB unless you are saving pictures, videos, music. or are doing some serious work on it. Base it on how much is currently used on your HDD.
