I’m trying to find this the “golden” / “copper” tape used on the backside of the lightning connector unit? I think it’s double sided tape, but I don’t have an idea what the purpose of its colour and material is..

The flex board is made up of layers of polyamide which has a yellow/orange color as the method on how the copper traces are created is using photolithography. The color blocks the light used to set the protective layer so the acid doesn’t eat away the traces wanted. The covering layer came off when you pulled the Lightning Connector Assembly off. The proper way to fix this is to replace the part iPhone 8 Plus Lightning Connector Assembly. Your other option is to cover the damage with Polyimide Tape. Be careful here! Thickness matters!
