Hi what components are on the audio control cable on the iPhone 6? And could the failure of these components cause the speaker to stop working? Thanks to add a little more context I have an iPhone 6 that was water damaged and had many problems. The following components have been replaced Display Assembly which Includes
Display Earpiece Front Facing camera The Loudspeaker The Lighting cable and headphone Jack. The logic board was removed any given a bath in isopropyl alcohol and refitted. Everything on the phone now works when the headphone are plugged in however the sound does not work when the headphones are unplugged. I’m at a loss to work out what to try next. Thanks Alan
Hi there, I think the audio cable you are referring to is the volume/mute ribbon cable, which has nothing to do with the main speaker not working. The main speaker is connected to the charging port which in turn is then connected to the logic board, so the issue you have would need one of these replaced. On a side note some cases the phone could be stuck in ‘headphone mode’, which is where the device thinks that headphones are plugged in even though there are none present. Which again can be fixed with a charging port replacement because by chance the headphone jack and charging port share the same ribbon cable. Hope this all helps!
as the Audio is working The Audio Codec is good. as you have changed the dock flex then there is a board fault. to be specific the Audio Amplifier circuit. the Audio Amp is a simple repair if you have the tools and knowledge. failing that a tech can test and fix this easy
