My friend has a non-working iMac. My goal is to reuse the display as a 27" screen to connect to a tower PC. I currently have access to the non-functioning iMac with its hard drive removed. I opened following tutorials here. I then ordered and got delivered a controller board. When I tried to connect the controller board to the display, I realized that the connectors were male on both sides. I figured I needed a female-female adaptor. My problem is that I have no idea what name those connectors have, and thus can’t look for any kind of adaptor that would fit… I’ll add pictures of the controller and the endings of it. It may take some effort but personally I would make use of the free repair program. It’s about at its end but someone else on the site, just today got Apple to repair it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203787 iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program Apple has determined that some AMD Radeon HD 6970M video cards used in 27-inch iMac computers with 3.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 or 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processors may fail, causing the computer’s display to appear distorted, white or blue with vertical lines, or to turn black. iMac computers with affected video cards were sold between May 2011 and October 2012.
