Suddenly my lock button only works for turning on the phone, waking and clicking 5 times for emergencies. Lock and turning off doesn’t doesn’t work - and the weirdest part is that the phone can’t even lock if i use the assistive touch function (software?) I’ve tried reseating everything inside, as well as resetting settings in software. Yes…the auto lock is set to 30seconds thank you !
Sounds like a base-level issue with the software. Have you used a computer to reset the settings and software, or only by selecting that option in the phone settings? I would recommend following this guide on iFixit to put your phone in DFU mode, and then using your computer to install a fresh copy of the firmware from the bottom up. That would be the most likely fix.
