Hi all, I just bought two Thunderbolt Displays from a single seller on Facebook Marketplace, I briefly inspected the displays and did not notice any issues, when I connected the displays to my Mac mini at home after about five minutes the attached started to appear on the screen, I tried connecting one of the monitors to my MacBook and again after five minutes the lines appeared, any ideas what this issue could be, is there any way to fix it or did I just get screwed out of my money? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Edit 1: I also noticed that if I leave the display on the line starts to extend to the bottom right corner and then disappears, it’s really weird. Edit 2:
How you perceive the colors on your display can be affected by many factors, such as ambient light, the position and angle of the display, and the age of the display. To accommodate for these factors, you can adjust your display using Display Calibrator Assistant. https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help… Or kindly follow these guides and if they get rid of the issue. https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help…
The block test isolated the issue down to a display image burn. This is when a the given pixel or group of pixels have been over biased so the in-plane switching (IPS) which controls the color of the given pixel is unable to enable the correct value to set the color correctly. There is very little you can do to undo the damage. You might be able to force the IPS logic to fix its self by over saturation of the complimentary color within the given space. Basically we need a negative image of the same image to burn the display given pixels. The only other option is replacing the full display assembly or the raw LCD panel. While not cheap these are very nice displays and still highly sought! 27" Cinema Display LCD Panel (Thunderbolt), Apple P/N 661-6028, LG panel LM270WQ1 (SD)(B3) I have two my self, I would hate to try to replace them as I find most displays are not as nice as these, just perfection! If Apple where to come out with a 5K 32” or larger version with the same ports I would buy it! But as we know Apple won’t be doing that ;-{
