Hi!, ive been trying to help my girlfriend out with her computer from a distance. Occasionally when she boots the PC or starts a game she gets; either blackscreen, HDMI losing connection or white, black and red horizontal lines. We’ve tried using two different graphics cards, 3 different HDMI cables, and 2 monitors. And it keeps happening. Do any of you have an idea of what the issue could be?, I’d really appreciate some help at this point! Hi @vasso123 , What OS is installed in the PC? What is the make and model number of the PC or the motherboard if custom build? Try starting the PC in safe mode and check if the black screen, lines etc appear on booting. Search online for how to boot in safe mode for the OS that is installed e.g. search for Win 7 safe mode or Win 10 safe mode etc. If it works OK every time in safe mode it will be a driver problem. Check that the graphics adapter drivers are up to date. (tell your GF that the screen will look different because the resolution will change and not to worry about that. It is the black screen and lines etc that needs to be worried about). If also no good in safe mode, try performing a memory test -free program. The idea here is not only to test the memory but more importantly it effectively tests the other PC hardware as well, because it is a standalone program that doesn’t need Windows to operate. You boot the PC with the program on a USB so if it boots and runs OK without any problems, it points towards a Windows problem and not a hardware problem. If it is a Windows problem run a sfc check to verify that the system files are OK. Also check in Event Viewer to see if there are any Critical, Error or Warning events that standout that may give an idea of what is happening. If Win 10 to get to Event Viewer - right click Windows Start button left side of taskbar and click on the link. If Win 7 find it in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer Random problems are sometimes not easy to track down so hopefully this is a start
