Chosen Solution

Hey everyone, I ordered a Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 a couple of weeks ago, and it arrived last week. I’ve been wanting to upgrade the RAM to 16GB, so I decided to open it up for the first time. I’ve never opened a laptop before, and I did not open it successfully. The areas with the hinges were giving me a hard time so I told myself that I would open it later in the day. I think I closed it properly (I heard the clicks) and turned the laptop back on. As soon as I pressed my Q key, the laptop made a loud sound and from then on, there was a faint clicking noise every couple of seconds. The noise sounded like a key being pressed, and it is near my left hinge and Q key. I think that my trying to open up the hinge area messed something up and now I don’t know how to fix it. If anyone has any solutions to my problem, please let me know. Any help is appreciated :) Edit: I confirmed that the cause of the sound is the fan. I think that while trying to open the laptop, I might have moved the fan somehow.

@porgdotorg time to open it up properly and replace the fan. At least check out what went wrong. Download the service manual from here Page 36 will show you how to get to the fan

Try opening it again and make sure everything is on the right place

I’ve got the same laptop, the fans start every 2 seconds, rotate for about 1 second then stop. This is the clicking noise you might be hearing. I think it’s normal.
