I have an older model 4 cycle craftsman weed wacker probably around 10 to 12 years old. Have replaced fule line a few times and even the clutch once or twice as well as cleaning the carb here and there but at the end of last year I went to use it and it started fin reved up to full then as soon as it took a load by hitting grass shut off. It then started and reved fine again and did the exact same thing like 5 times in a row. I have a smaller one that I have been using but I have a bunch of attachments I really need the power of the 4 cycle for. Any idea on what could be wrong?
@celenbris You’ve covered a lot of bases, for sure, but there are a few more things you can check: Replace fuel filter (usually found inside the gas tank, on the fuel line)Completely disassemble the carb and clean in ultrasonic cleanerCheck gas cap, as it has to vent the tank. (Try unscrewing the cap a little, to create a gap. If that keeps it running, you know that the vent in the gas cap is plugged and the gas cap needs to be replaced.)Check and clean the spark arrestor screen. They foul easily, and is one of the most common reasons for an engine bogging Start with those, and let us know how it goes :)
