Hi, So I have been recently having some issues with the webcam on this Macbook Air (Early 2014) where it would work, but the image would break up and it was a bit hit and miss whether or not you’d actually get a clear image. So I replaced the webcam, and since then, the webcam is not recognised at all, and I get an NCD001 error when running Apple Diagnostics. I can confirm that the camera cable is connected, the battery was disconnected whilst replacing, and the cable for the webcam seems to be in very good condition. Does anyone have any idea what I can try next?
I think you need to replace the cable as that’s likely the issue not the camera unit its self. Here’s one source for the cable 13” acBook Air Hinge/Clutch - iSight/Antenna Cables (13-17), Apple P/N 661-02397 Update (11/29/2020) So lets trace out the pathway on how the camera is connected
So the first point is the lid cable connecting to the main logic board and then its signals are passed to the I/O board where the USB hub is located. Then the USB signal is sent back across to the PCH chip. So we will need to look at the I/O board and its cable (I would check the cable first): MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O BoardMacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board Cable
