A couple of days back I could not log into Windows 10 due to an error with Windows Error reporting. I tried various things but I could not. So all my data is trapped in the hard disk (WD7500BPKT) . The hard disk is divided into 3 partitions with Windows etc on one partition. I was planning to rescue my data by buying an external hard disk. But it shows up as AS2115 / ASMT 2115 USB but I can not see any files. The box I bought is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075… I have attached various pictures. Can anyone help?

Update (11/26/2017) Hi - I have attached a picture of what I get … it says its uninitialised… I get an option to initialise the disk but I do not want to end up wiping the data….

Right click “My computer/PC”, select Manage. Find “Disk Management”. Does the USB drive with 3 partitions show up in Disk Management? If so, try assigning drive letters to them. Also, did this come with the laptop? Go to wdc.com, and give them your serial number. The WD Black hard drives purchased separately have a 5 year warranty, they will send you a replacement drive first so you can copy your data from the old drive to the new drive before you send in the old drive.

This probably won’t help, but ASMT 2115 is being returned by the external drive enclosure. I have a Toshiba 4TB drive and a Western Digital 4TB drive each in the same model external enclosure from Inland and both of them show up as device type ASMT 2115. As a result Windows doesn’t report the brand or model of the drive, it sees them as ASMT 2115. I recently tried to back up a laptop using Acronis free from WD and from Seagate, to external drives each in the same type of Inland enclosure. WD OEM Acronis 25 did not recognize the external WD drive but Seagate Acronis OEM 24 did recognize the Seagate drive.
