So i know the usual seal. The one that goes around the frame itself, however i have other questions. First of all, i did a screen replacement and swapped over the earpiece speaker. There was adhesive that i took off. The new screen didnt have any adhesive so i just screwed the bracket back on and it works fine. Is it possible to have water get into the device from the earpiece speaker mesh?
Generally, once the phone is opened, there’s no way to effectively fully restore the water resistance unless you have the Apple display press. It should not be trusted once opened, unless it’s light rain in a case. I wouldn’t rely on the IP rating, even on a virgin phone. The adhesive loses its grip, and it eventually is lost so you end up in the same situation. Better to only consider it cheap insurance, and untrusted once opened.
