I had a bit of water falling on the trackpad and now trackpad and keyboard are not working. with external usb keyboard and trackpad all is Ok. do I have to change the trackpad, or only some ribbons? thanks for the help. serge

I had the same problem last summer on a 2012 and it turned out to be a software fix. This was a tough one. Here’s my Q & A on it: Trackpad Does not Function Properly

This model uses a pass-though design where the keyboard is connected to the trackpad and then the trackpad and keyboard signals are forwarded to the logic board with a single connection. So with both keyboard & trackpad dead it will either be the trackpad its self or the ribbon cable from the trackpad to the logic board that will need replacing (or both).
