For the last week, every cycle, every temperature fills with very low water…….much lower than it used to. Clothes are not washed properly and knot up now. Only way we can get enough water is to keep pausing the cycle and open the lid, then when closed, it fills a bit……then we repeat the process forever until there is enough water. What I have found online is to change out the water inlet valve………but that is between $40-60 and I would like to be sure before I spend the money. Update (06/14/2021) Also, the model is Maytag Bravos MCT MVWX655DW1
Hi @ericoneill , Here’s the tech sheet for the washer. Go to p.2 to see how to run the diagnostic test modes and check what error codes, if any, are being displayed. The tech sheet describes each error code and their likely cause. Hopefully this will help to narrow down what is causing the problem
I would say the water inlet valve is functional. The machine inputs water, hot and cold, right? This is from your owners manual: When the START/Pause button is pressed, the washer will fill to an initial water level and begin sensing to determine the load size. The washer will then continue filling to the appropriate water level based on load size and proceed to Wash. If the lid is opened or the START/Pause button is pressed, the cycle will pause. Closing the lid and/or pressing the START/Pause button will resume the cycle. If the cycle remains paused with the lid open for 10 minutes, the washer will pump out the water. WASH During the first stage of the sensing/wash cycle, water will partially fill the washer and begin to move the load. It is normal to have the sensing light on during this stage. You will hear the agitator rotate followed by a several second pause. This process will repeat for several minutes, allowing the entire load to become saturated. The lower water level combined with HE detergent at this stage allows for concentrated cleaning. It is normal for the load to be above the water line during this stage. At the beginning of the second stage, the washer will add water to the correct level based on the load size. You will hear the agitator increase speed during this stage of the wash cycle. The motor sounds may change at different stages in the wash cycle. Based on this you should be able to infer where the problem might be. If the water inlet valve were the problem you would get no water either from the hot or cold - there are 2 valves. If neither worked, it would indicate a control issue. Then the above process begins. If it does not go thru this process, then it is a control issue. You should run this with hot, and cold to eliminate a valve issue. You might also check the hose filters. They could be full of crap. They should be on the faucet end, but I have seen them on the wrong end.
