Okay so i got my lovely macbook damaged by the rain the other week, and took it to a repair shop who said that it wouldn’t even turn on and is ‘uneconomical’ to repair. However when i got back i put it near a heater for a few hours and now everything on it works fine (apart from a little bit of screen damage but thats livable), the only thing that doesn’t work is the touch bar, i cannot use it and more importantly, it randomly selects buttons by itself every 20 seconds or so. Is there any way to disable or relace the touchbar? what would happen if i just cut the cord? thanks for your time
hey James. As it turns our, the touchbar is essentially impossible to replace by itself as it’s glued to the top case. The only way to truly repair the computer is to have apple send it out for repair which I think is like 1600 bucks… :(
it could be a connector? did you ever get this fixed and find out what happened? having the same issues.
nothing should happen if you cut the cord. but if you invest in a top cover witch holds your keyboard and touchpad it has a lot of scews and needs to be put perfect and mind the fact it has to be identical to the apple mac book for this to work. just requires alot of attention and detailed take apart and reassembled. if you havent took one apart dont advise you do it. might just be worth adding a usb mouse and keyboard for the cheapest method in a fix. is all i could say. hope this works for you.
Hey did you get the solution to this? My touch bar on my ipad has some water too, and it randomly starts playing around with the controls. Let me know what you did and if that helped!
