Dear friends, My MBP got what I consider a minor water intake. I went to de Apple Store and you know the story it was not covered. My MBP turns only with the charger plugged in but not with the battery itself. It also does not charge. I hope to hear from you soon. JL
Contact your insurance agent and see what your deductible is. Before you destroy it trying to fix it yourself know that water damage can be the most difficult thing to diagnose. Take it to a independent professional Apple guy. It very much depends of where the water entered and if it got to the logic board or could be repaired with a simple keyboard replacement.
This will require a board-level repair to fix. You can always outsource one via a Mail-In repair to getting it repaired for you. The alternative is replacing the whole motherboard which may or may not even be available yet considering how new the machine it. Either way I wish you luck!
Since the main board is still functioning when power is applied, I would assume the issue is with the battery and its’ board. Try replacing the battery (with integrated board).
