Hi, I spilt chamomile tea on my trackpad and part of my keyboard, it wasn’t a lot but I took to it be assessed by apple and they wanted near £1000 to fix it, so I though absolutely not and decided to see if I could fix it myself. The machine powers on fine, I just can’t click on anything with the trackpad. I suspect a couple of the keys don’t work too. Will doing a basic clean of corrosion help? If not, is it worth replacing the trackpad/is that even possible. I know the trackpad is really difficult to access in this model because they glue the batteries down.
I and others have seen this problem before. That is, just a drop of water hitting the trackpad and messing its action up. See if an external mouse works first. If it does, back up your data to an external drive. Put your machine into Target Mode with another Mac and reformat the drive. Then disconnect and restart and do an internet restore of the system.
