My washer will not begin to spin during the normal course of the washing/rinse cycle. However, if I manually set the washer to spin, it will spin. What might help this?

Mikeyrue, It sounds like the mechanical timer unit may have something broken in it. There may be a way to repair it, but the internal works are a bit complicated. Mechanical timers do occasionally fail. It may be best to replace the entire timer unit. If you do decide to open the timer, it will have rings of contact plates. Find the contact for the spin cycle (you can turn it to spin to find it. Then see if the section of the wash cycle for spin has some kind of damage or corrosion that isnt letting that part of the wash cycle engage spin. Best of Luck
