Hi there, The voice control on my iphone will activate on it’s own without pressing the home button. This wil continue until i shut down the phone. When this happens my homebutton doesn’t work. I already replaced te homebutton. I have restored the iphone couple times. Also on a different pc. And the problem disappeared for a day. Then it came back. Now i can’t fix it. Any answers? Thanks Gail
I disagree with Martin on this one. please also confirm that this is a 3GS and not an iphone 4 This symptom is caused by water damage usually and is resolved by stripped down the iphone and clean the board with Isopopyl Alcohol. Pay special attention to the dock connector 4 area and also clean the back side of the board. This has fixed about 4 iphones with this issue.
By “home button” do you mean the plastic circle that you put your finger on or the actual home button flex beneath it? If you only replaced the plastic part then I’m afraid you have replaced the wrong part. It seems to me as though you need to replace the actual home button flex. If you have already done that, make sure it is securely inserted into the home button flex receiving connection tab.
@Dave, I am going to try the method you mentioned once I get home from work. Quick question though, I have an Iphone 3, there was a minor spill and the moisture indicator stickers were not triggered (still white) but the Home button does not work (clicking it does nothing) which is ok because now there is assistive touch. However, the voice control goes haywire sometime especially if the phone is plugged in to charge. I have taken the phone apart to try and blow off any dust and used a fine brush (meant for electric shavers) to brush off anything that may be stuck inside. However it still activated voice control even when the phone is just sitting there…Any advice above and beyond whats mentioned already in this situation?
