I have a Canon vc-50i that shows distorted video. There are squigly horizontal lines all across the screen. When it first powers up the picture is fine then after a minute or so, the picture begins to jump and vibrate and show horizontal lines.

Does it have a wireless or wired connection? If its wired, it could simply be a bad video cable interfering with the video.

I was also face this issue in my HD Security Camera which I brought from Orlando, but I fix the issue myself with these hacks. I hope these will help you also: Check the security IP camera lens for dirt, dust, spiderwebs, etc. Clean the lens with a soft and clean cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners or aerosol cleaners that may harm the lens. Check your security camera specifications to make sure the extension cable run is in the proper range. If you are using a wireless security camera, make sure the camera is not too far from the router. For a varivocal security camera, you need to adjust the focus and zoom settings. Remember varifocal cameras require adjustment from time to time.
