A family member has a damaged LG 55UH7700 that I would like to repair if possible. They smacked the tv with a magazine to try to kill a bug (Brilliant, I know) and it damaged the TV in some way. There are colored vertical lines horizontal colored lines and some blacked out areas around where the impact was. I understand the T-Con board is a likely fix for colored lines on the display but I’m not sure if the blacked out portions of the screen indicate a more serious issue. I appreciate any tips on this…

Zachary Byrs what you have here is a broken LCD panel. The only way to fix the TV would be by replacing the screen. You will have to remove the back cover from your TV and take a look at the label glued to the panel. The panel number is what you are looking for. Take that number and do an online search and see if you can find a replacement. Panels that size are usually more expensive then a replacement TV, if you can even find one. Of course you should also check places like craigslist, ebay etc., to see if you can find a replacement
