I have a Whirlpool front load washing unit. The top counterweight broke off from the plastic outer drum. The counterweight is not damaged, but it ripped a large chunk of plastic off of the outer drum. It is out of warranty and Whirlpool does not sell the outer drum separately from the inner drum and the replacement part is over $1200. I had the thought of using a plastic welder to reattach the broken plastic piece to the outer drum. Does anyone have experience with something like this? Would the repaired plastic be strong enough to hold up under normal use of the washing machine? That concrete counterweight is heavy… . If so, is there a specific kind of plastic solder would you recommend using? Any guidance or feedback that can be provided is much appreciated. Thank you,

@andrewathome I really can’t see that the repair will last due to the heavy counterweights. That said right now you really do not have very many choices so give it a try. I can’t break more than what it already is. Post some good pictures of the damage etc. that way we can see what you see and may come up with different ideas. Adding images to an existing question
