Chosen Solution
I recently purchased a bad usb video game controller and in testing it on my Dell Inspirion 7720, the USB ports have failed to recognize anything. I found a bad driver for “Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1E2D” in the Device Manager and re-installed the driver and it was without the caution sign. That didn’t solve the problem and my mouse blinks at the laser each time I plug it in but doesn’t work. I have looked up the BIOS and apart from “Disable Drive Signature”, I can’t find anything pertaining to the faulty USB ports. I have tried updating but the computer says the drivers are up to date. I am stuck at this and would appreciate feedback. Update (04/07/2017) It’s a dell 7720 Inspiron 17r special edition but I recently changed the board to a 5720 board.
