I currently have a Mac Pro mid 2012. I use VM Fusion on this machine. Recently VMFusion upgrade states it does not support the mid-2012 3.2 GHz Quad Core Xenon processor. The new VMFusion is supported in 2010 Mac Pro “Six Core”, “Eight Core” and “Twelve Core”. So I would like to upgrade the processor in the 2012 machine. Is this possible? If so how and where?
Of course it is possible. It’s a matter of how deep you pockets are. It’s just a matter of exchanging the processor trays. Here’s a listing of available upgrades: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4… I would love to take mine to a : 12-Core 3.46GHz Xeon and 128GB RAM just don’t currently have the $1590 to do it. The Intel 3.46 GHz Six Core CPUs. This is a straightforward procedure that will take very little time and the result will be a machine with multi-thread performance exceeding the 2017 6 core “trashcan” Mac Pro by an average 60% UPDATE What I am researching now is doing it myself and if this will work on my 2009 that has been flashed to 5,1 $289.95 https://www.ebay.com/i/282655497678?rt=n…
