Hello dear comunity, I’m from Europe and I made an exchange las Spring semester when I adquired a second hand Sprint Iphone 5 16 Gb (not robbed or stolen). The fact is that I wasn’t able to find out how can I unlock it here in europe and it’s a pitty because I changed the front panell (it was broken) and now it’s like new but still locked. I think you are the only ones who can answer me or give some tips to fix it. Thanks and congrats’ for the good work on the web comunity.

There is two different locks: 1 - Locked to the carrier 2 - iCloud locked To change the carrier you will need to contact them to unlock the phone (you should have the original owner do this) as the contract needs to be paid off before they will unlock it. In Europe the laws are different on this so you will need to read up on your options from the carriers web site there. iCloud lock is when someone has told Apple the phone is stolen using the Find My iPhone App. For all practical sense the phone is bricked and only the original owner can unlock it. While there is a bug in the older iOS that made it appear you could unlock the phone as soon as the phone connects to iCloud it will lock up again. The newest iOS fixes that so now that is not even possible.

Hey there, Sprint polices are pretty simple, the device may be used for international use. As long as the account the device was on is in good standing or paid off. As well as it had to be in service for 3 months before sprint will give you the unlock code so it can be used for international use. Sprint # 1-800-211-4727 for customer service
