I have a MacBook Pro 1278 Last year I had a problem when it doesn’t recognize the SSD and I changed the HDD cable. Today I have the same problem but in Disk Utility, SSD is recognized and shows up in the listed devices but I can’t erase to install new OS-X and when I try to erase the SSD comes up with the error: “Unable to write to the last block of the device“ Does anyone have this error? And how can I solve it?

So this appears the be a bad HDD cable which is quite common! Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb You’ll need this part: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable and here’s the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement Make sure you place a strip of electricians tape on the uppercase as described above, but! You also need to use care as the ribbon cable is very easy to damage! Don’t fold it! Instead, find an old BIC ball point pen to steal the empty ink straw. Using it as a forming brake curl the cable to its radius so you have a nice smooth arc that is no tighter. Reformat your drive and re-install your OS afterwards. That should fix things.

Do a “Secure erase” when reformatting the drive to map out any bad blocks, it’a available in the options when formatting.
