How to check if system not getting power from battery?

  1. When you push the power button does it light up? If it lights up, does it blink? If it blinks, what colors & what pattern of blinking (i.e. two long blinks, one short blink, one long, then repeat).   2. Will it power on with the battery removed from the laptop? If yes, the battery may be bad.
