so i have an original xbox and it has been well taken care of but here recently it is saying unable fo read disc when started or after a while of playing the game stops and says unable to read disc. The problem isnt the disc though as it works perfectly in other original xboxs. I suspect maybe the lens is dirty but i am not exactly sure… should i just replace the disc drive? Should i try and clean the lens? I dont really wanna mess it up so i wanted to here recommendations here first. Thanks
@oliver023 yes it does sound slike your laser lens is either dirty or your laser is losing some oomph. You can get a commercial CD/DVD lens cleaner at an department store. Give that a try. If it does not change anything, you may have to consider to disassemble your drive and clean the lens or replace the laser. Since there are a few different drives being used, check these guides for a match with your system. Xbox Repair
