Apple Mac mini “Core i7” 3.0 (Late 2014) Late 2014 - BTO/CTO - Macmini7,1 - A1347 - 2840 This one came in with a failing 1TB 2.5” hard drive. It also is set up as a fusion drive with a 128GB SSD blade. 16GB RAM. I replaced the 1TB drive with a Crucial 1TB 500MMX SSD. Had to boot the machine with the old 1TB standard drive attached via USB to SATA adapter. I am unable to format the new internal 1TB SSD drive. Tried an APFS format with Disk Utilities. It is running Mojave. Do I need to break the fusion drive first?
@mayer - You’ll need to run Disk Utility deleting all of the drives partitions (both the PCIe & SATA). Then reboot and run the internet recovery or use a prepped up USB OS installer. Just run the installer let it setup the drives.
