Hi all, Had a spare TV that was off for probably at least 2 years and have decided I should really sell it but when turning it back on the screen is really dark (picture is fine just really dark). I’m wondering is it screen burn or does it just need to run for a while? When I try switching picture settings (standard>sport>cinema, etc.) quickly there is the odd brief flash where full brightness reappears. Kind Regards, Ryan
Can you take off the back of the TV and check for any leaky or bulged capacitors? I have attached a picture for reference.
@crawleyni could be a power board issue by not supplying enough voltage for the backlight. It is also possible that this is the T-con board. The Gamma IC on that board is responsible for colorization and sharpness. Dark pictures (no, not black), low contrast, washed out screen appearances, and solarization are almost always caused by the IC having failed. Time to the the back cover off and taking some measurements. Post pictures of the boards.
