Just now when we pushed the power button on the remote to turn on the TV, there was a loud POP, a hot smell, and there is no image or sound. The red indicator light on the right side of the TV is on. What could this be?
Sounds like some capacitors blew. To check this Take the back of the tv off and look for these small cylinders, most will be either black, green, or blue. When you see them, it should be pretty obvious, do you see any stuff on top of them or are the tops split open? If not, inspect the boards and see if there are any black spots or components that look blown up or damaged. If not, take it to some repair shop and see what they have to say.
