I have a problem with my TV it dark but I can hear the sound

The picture we see on the TV screen is because there is a light behind the screen known as an LED (Light Emitting Diode). There is an array of LED strips at the back of the screen. If one or more LED stops working the entire strip and /or array will not work and hence the screen will remain black or blank. This doesn’t affect the sound section so the audio may work properly. To rectify this problem, LED strip(s) need to be replaced. This is a very tricky or complicated process as the TV has to be disassembled completely. It is highly recommended that this should be done by experienced professionals.

Mbali Mkhize we need more information from you. First we need to know the exact model number for your TV. When your TV is with a dark screen but you have sound, shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen. Let us know if you can make out silhouettes etc. If so it’s your backlight. If not, then you want to go ahead and disconnect all the video inputs and the power outlet. Then hold the power button down for 30-60 seconds. Connect one video source and the power plug. Then try and see if it restarts. Try all the video input sources as well. If that does not yield any change, it may be time to remove the back from your TV and take a look at the boards for any obviously damaged components.
