Hello, my Philips 55” tv all of a sudden went to a black screen even after I reset it for 60 seconds, but still no luck. It has sound, but shows no picture and that is so irritating. Could anyone tell me what could the problem be?
@foreverporter start off by shining a flashlight beam at an angle against the screen while the TV is on and you hear sound. See if you can make out shapes/ silhouettes etc. If so you know that your backlight has failed. Most common cause are a failed power supply or backlight strips. If you cannot see anything you need to consider a failed main board, failed power board or failed T-con board. Of course there is always the chance that this a bad panel (unlikely).You can see the importance of checking to see if you have a picture showing, just not lit. Let us know what make and exact model your TV is as well as what you find out when you check it. Ultimately you will also have to remove the back cover from your TV to check the boards etc. Once you removed the cover post some good pictures of your boards with your QUESTION.
