My Macbook Pro turns on after resetting SMC… but shuts down while loading after typing my password… and only works connected to the charger… how messed up is it? What must it be? It really sucks since the glass literally flew to it by accident and it wasn’t that much water but enough to mess it up… it’s been 2 days since

it got inside through the CD/DVD area. I disconnected the battery… Update (02/11/2020) @oldturkey03 It’s been 2 days already, it wasn’t much water but it got inside through the CD/DVD area. I disconnected the battery… here’s a pic…

some more info: I ran recovery mode and it shuts down inmediately after clicking on wifi connections… also, internet recovery shuts it down immediately.

@ziggyhelmet this will all depend on where the water damage occurred. For now you really do not want to power your MBP up. start disassembling it using these guides. MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Repair take some good pictures of your logic board as well as your MagSafe board, and post those with your question. That way we can see what you see and hopefully identify the area that got damaged. Adding images to an existing question After that, clean your boards etc. with a high grade isopropyl alcohol solution and a soft brush. Ultrasonic cleaning would be best if you have it somehow available to you. Once properly cleaned we can hopefully provide you with a more concrete answer on which parts to check. A multimeter and some basic knowledge about testing components would be a perfect start. right now it does sound like the damage maybe isolated to the PBus Supply & Battery Charger circuitry.
