Hi everyone, I’ve finally decided to try and fix my old MacBook pro (a1286, 15"inch, mid-12) that got some water dumped on it a year ago… Despite the water spill, it still boots and works for the most part (os operating as it should, no damage on the hd, screen’s ok, charger supply ok). But there’s obviously quite a lot of issues as well: -Battery not recognized so only works when plugged in (also, for some reason it automatically starts booting when plugged in) -Keyboard’s toast (keys acting up, some don’t respond at all and some others just completely turn off the computer…) so a I guess a replacement keyboard’s in order -Fans are always on at full speed (I’ve read that this might be due to one (or more) of the temp sensors giving a wrong reading?) -High cpu usage from kernel_task. I’ve started disassembly to inspect and clean the board and the others components, but I was wondering if anybody here could give me a heads up on what to do and where to go next? I know I’m definetly going have to have to buy some parts but I would’ve liked some opinions before going all in buying stuff for a computer that maybe can’t be saved… Hopefully this is going to be an ongoing thread and I’ll post some pictures as soon as I get a chance! Thanks in advance!

I would use a soft toothbrush and some 85% isopropyl alcohol going over the logic board cleaning both sides, if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner which you can put the board into I would do that using isopropyl alcohol Be sure you have good ventilation! As well as no open flames or spark sources near by.
