First I bought a cheapo sd card reader from amazon and I figured it was just doa. Then I bought one from iFixit and it’s also not registering that there is an SD card inserted. Could there be another reason the switch is not recognizing the sd card?
The connector on the motherboard has likely got cracks on the solder joints.
Verify that the microSD card is compatible with Nintendo Switch. If the microSD card is not compatible with the console, replacing it with a compatible type may resolve the problem. If the microSD card label indicates it is SDXC, reinsert the microSD card back into the console. From Nintendo.com
