Chosen Solution
I just managed to replace some parts on the macbook pro (13” unibody mid 2012) including battery & trackpad. The new trackpad seems to be working, but the upper third does not click and shows cutoff responsiveness. My thoughts are that it has to do with either the alignment of the trackpad or the tightness of the screws that hold the trackpad. Anyone have a tip on what I should be looking for?
The upper part is not clickable! The trackpad is hinged along the top edge so it can’t be depressed about 1/3 from the top edge. The click adjustment is the center setscrew
You want to make sure the trackpad is resting on the tangs which should have a bumper within the case hollow. Be careful as it doesn’t take much to adjust. It is about .25 mm of a drop for the blister switch to be toggled.
